Brian Durnin is an award winning filmmaker from Dublin, Ireland. He recently directed 80’s set Irish feature film Spilt Milk which had its premiere at Tallinn Black Nights in Estonia in November 2024. The film was nominated for 4 awards at the 2025 IFTAs including best Picture and Best Director. It also picked up the prestigious Mubi Audience Award at the Glasgow Film Festival. His short films have screened at numerous prestigious international festivals including TriBeCa and Raindance. He has won awards at Cork, Kerry, Galway, Belfast, Raindance and Rome (Filmare).
He is also a highly accomplished commercials director who has directed hundreds of films across the globe for big brands around the world working with household names such as Saoirse Ronan and Liam Cunningham. His work has earned dozens of awards at international Advertising Festivals such as Epica, The Sharks and Cannes, including two Best Director awards at the Sharks and the ICADs.
Brian has co-written several Screen Ireland commissioned screenplays and is currently in development on a Screen Ireland backed Donal Ryan adaptation. This work has garnered dozens of awards both locally and internationally. He has also worked as a second unit director on Paramount’s TV Show “The Ex Wife”. Brian is Co-Creator, Writer and Executive Producer on THE LIBERTIES (Screen Ireland/Dynamic Films/925/Vico) for which he directed a Proof of Concept film in 2019 garnering a huge response online.
